Our MBMC STUDIOS decorative artists designed, fabricated and installed a tiled relief frieze running the full perimeter of the room at high level. Referencing both the primitive aesthetic that emerged in the early twentieth century and the formal language of printing blocks, the frieze brings a measured architectural rhythm to the space.
The tiles are finished in a dry faux pierre treatment, layered and modulated to achieve the depth and softly mineral quality of handmade ceramic. Subtle shifts in tone and texture evoke aged plaster, clay or weathered limestone, giving each tile a material presence that reads as genuinely made.
The double doors were finished in a richly worked verdigris effect, executed with both depth and restraint to achieve the character of naturally aged architectural bronze or copper.
The finish integrates seamlessly with the surrounding decorative scheme while retaining an authentic material sensibility.
