Pimlico Bar

This is a great example of a project that fired up many of the company departments to collaborate on the whole project. Although a small bar, it was complicated. The main body of the furniture was timber, framed with a beautiful chinoiserie blind fret moulding. The ornamental enrichments were modelled by our 3D dept and cast in resin, later prepared and water-gilded with the surrounding raised ornamentation. The interior surfaces were clad in back painted chinoiserie Verre Eglomyse panels – the counters in black and gold Portoro marble. Shelves were cut from 12mm glass and polished, the shelf-fronts enhanced with a delicate pierced brass gallery following the contours of the U-Shaped front edge.

We designed and fabricated the pair of bamboo wall lights in solid brass to the front and fashioned them with decorative backplates to fit perfectly into our fretwork detailing.

The brass grille at the bottom was required to offer ventilation for the integrated fridge – it is a bespoke item cut from 3mm brass sheet and framed – picking up on the fretwork ornament and finishing off the base of the unit beautifully.

Finally the unit, after installation, was antiqued in situ to render an aged patination.
