Site supervisor
Job Summary: As a Working Site Supervisor, you will play a dual role —both “on the tools” as a Senior Decorative Artist (with specialism) delivering high-quality decorative finishes and overseeing site-based projects. Your responsibilities include ensuring smooth day-to-day operations on-site, maintaining project timelines, and upholding exceptional standards of craftsmanship and execution throughout all phases of delivery.
All our decorative artists are capable in the following techniques: basic preparatory decoration, oil and acrylic glaze finishes, wall-covering printing or manufacture, polished and burnished plaster finishes, painted faux finishes, timber finishes/French polishing, mirror and glass finishes/gilding.
And are experienced in handling a range of media such as: oil and acrylic colours, scumble-glazes, gesso and casein-bound pigments, gouache and watercolour, tempera, encaustic, distemper colour washing, limewash, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Senior Decorative Artist (with specialism)
- You will be able to demonstrate an excellent knowledge of all aspects and practices of specialist decoration by Mathew Bray & Matthew Collins Ltd (MBMC Studios).
- You will have multiple capabilities in several specialist areas and demonstrate broad foundation skills, such as Gilding, Glazing, Antique Finishes, Marbling, Faux Bois, Lacquer Finishes, Gesso Finishes, Distemper Finishes, Mirrored Glass and Verre Eglomise.
- Senior Decorative Artists (with specialism) are required to work independently and produce high-quality finishes requiring little or no technical direction. Their work should be delivered snag-free and before the deadline.
- Combining the Two Roles:
- In addition to the skills required as a senior decorative artist (with specialism), you will need to illustrate an excellent knowledge of working practices, a proactive approach, effective communication skills, good team leading and the ability to work with a degree of autonomy.
- You will be in control of a team of decorative artists who will be both employees and contractors.
- Team and Project Management:
- You will be responsible for organising your team
- You will be responsible for instructing your team
- You will be responsible for monitoring your team to maintain a high level of workmanship and professional conduct from each member at all times
- You will be responsible for maintaining the agreed work schedule and reporting daily to your contract & project manager to illustrate this
- You will take an active part in daily work
- You will ensure all plant & material supplies are sufficient and controlled, according to project demands
- You will be responsible for the Health & Safety of your team at all times
- You will maintain the welfare of your team
- You will attend all relevant site meetings, reporting back to your Contract & Project Manager on all relevant issues
Qualifications
- You must be qualified in Emergency First Aid at Work.
- You must hold a valid driving licence
- Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel are required
- SSSTS Certification & PASMA Certification are required.
Physical Requirements
- You will be required to travel to different locations, across London, within the UK, internationally, working away from home for short periods.
